Born to Fly is still taking the world by storm.
We are pleased to announce that Kino Lorber is our new distributor! The DVD won't be available until this Spring/Summer, but the film is currently available for educational licensing in addition to theatrical bookings. Inquiries should be sent to Jonathan Hertzberg for theatrical bookings and Jeff Tamblyn at Kino Lorber Edu for educational screenings. See our contact page for more info!
Here are a few of the festivals and screenings that are coming up. For the complete list, check out our Born to Fly screening page here.
WEXNER CENTER
Born to Fly has been chosen to be part of the Wexner Center for the Arts' Visiting Filmmakers Series. The screening will be accompanied by a Q&A with Catherine Gund and Elizabeth Streb. Get your tickets for the January 23rd screening in Columbus, OH.
DANCE ON CAMERA
Tickets just went on sale for our Dance on Camera screening at Lincoln Center. The festival celebrates the immediacy of dance combined with the intimacy of film and features such films as Dancing Is Living: Benjamin Millepied and Desert Dancer. And this year, during the Dance on Camera Kickoff Gala, our own Elizabeth Streb will present Lois Greenfield with the Dance in Focus Award.
Greenfield was the preeminent dance photographer of the 1970s and 80s. Pairing Greenfield's freeze frame photography with Streb's action based choreography inspired a 20-year-long collaboration between the two artists. In Born to Fly, Streb even mentions that Greenfield's photography allowed her to see her work in a new light, inspiring her to push her choreography to new extremes.
Don't miss our screening February 1st at the Walter Reade Theater in New York, NY.
ATHENA FILM FESTIVAL
The Athena Film Festival, which highlights women and leadership in the film industry, will feature Born to Fly on February 8th at Barnard College in New York, NY. In addition to the screening, there will also be a panel discussion featuring Born to Fly cinematographer, Kirsten Johnson. She, along with two other female cinematographers, will discuss how they broke into the "private club" of cinematography and became some of the most in-demand names in the game.
Get your tickets to the screening here and the cinematography panel here.
